About the Opportunity
This is an open position with Potomac Edison, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [PE]
The Reliability Engineer position is located in Williamsport, Maryland.
Responsibilities include:
- Working safely in a variety of electric utility settings and follow all Accident Prevention Handbook work practices.
- Managing and supporting reliability programs.
- Performing reliability analysis studies, querying reliability data, and preparing detailed internal and external reports for management and MD Public Utilities Commission.
- Working collectively with the Regulatory Reporting and Corporate Services Compliance groups to prepare reports and responses to the PUC.
- Assisting in the preparation of budget estimates and schedules for reliability improvement projects.
- Preparing reports and studies to support reliability improvement initiatives and projects.
- Assisting in the development and presentation of the capital budget.
- Performing and/or providing technical support to complete power quality studies as needed.
- Investigating and answering customer inquiries regarding service quality and reliability.
- Investigating reliability complaints filed with the Public Utilities Commission, providing analysis, support and recommending corrective measures where appropriate.
- Identifying and implementing effective programs, processes and procedures to improve data quality and reliability.
- Assisting with required training programs pertaining to data quality, outage reporting, and reliability analysis.
- Preparing ad hoc reports as requested.
- Supporting the Potomac Edison storm process as needed.
- Working on special projects as business needs require.
- Working overtime as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution is required. Electrical Engineering is strongly preferred, however other Engineering disciplines may be considered. Electronic(s) Engineering Technology degree requires a PE license to meet position requirements. Advanced degree a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Knowledge of SAP a plus.
- In-depth understanding of pertinent technical products and/or services and of customer needs and expectations.
- Possess a sound knowledge of various researching techniques.
- Intermediate level analytical and technical abilities.
- Strong written and oral communication skills; including the ability to make formal technical presentations to various levels of management.
- Demonstrate a questioning attitude to continue to learn, produce results, and strengthen existing relationships.
- Deliver quality, accurate work within established deadlines.
