Spire is seeking a Second-Class Technician to work in the Instrumental and Control Section of Gas Supply and Control in St. Louis, MO.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • This position will be responsible for building, maintaining, and repairing various types of electrical, pneumatic and mechanical equipment. 
  • May be required to make calculations of electrical and pneumatic systems to assure their proper functioning. 
  • This position is subject to working at various plants and locations, under various schedules and is subject to emergency calls.

Essential Characteristics and Competencies

  • Applicants for this job must be physically fit, sound, active, and capable of performing heavy manual labor.  They must be a high school graduate or equivalent with a technical academic background, which includes satisfactory completion of courses in physics, algebra, and trigonometry.  Must be able to read mechanical or electrical blueprints and sketches.  Must be prepared to take the validated job test applicable to this position.  Must be able to obtain a Class "E" Chauffeur's license.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Required Education (certifications, licenses)

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Satisfactory completion of courses in physics, algebra and trigonometry (physics and algebra are required)
  • Able to obtain a Class "E" Chauffer's license

Required knowledge, skill and abilities

  • Ability to have good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions (extreme heat or cold)
  • Ability to work flexible work schedules
  • Ability to work at various plants, offices and vaults
  • Available for on-call emergencies

Physical demands, environment and schedule

  • Works at various plants, stations and locations such as takepoints and regulator vaults.
  • May work various schedules and be subject to emergency calls.
