Lower Mount Bethel Energy has an employment opportunity for a Combined Cycle Technician.  The Combined Cycle Technician operates, maintains, troubleshoots and is responsible for work associated with the Lower Mount Bethel Energy (LMBE) combined cycle generating facility.  They attend, operate, maintain and observe the operation of all site equipment.   Site equipment being defined as all equipment contained within the LMBE project boundary.  Site equipment includes, but is not limited to, boilers (HRSGs), turbines, generators, pumps, motors, valves, compressors, HVAC systems (excepting work requiring a license to work with refrigerants), lighting systems, meters, gauges, and relay and control systems.

The Combined Cycle Technician takes corrective action to ensure the continued operation of the facility.  Performs mechanical, electrical and Instrument and Control work in the maintenance and operation of the combined cycle generating station.  Works alone or with the assistance of other Combined Cycle Technicians.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Duties include, but are not limited to:

1. Observes operating conditions of all site equipment as reflected by instruments, gauges, controls and visual observation.
2. Synchronizes generators and controls station generating equipment.
3. Controls and switches power supply to all auxiliaries and station buses of various voltages.
4. Makes adjustments as necessary to ensure site equipment is operating properly, and places site equipment in service and removes site equipment from service as required or as directed.
5. Maintains all site equipment as directed. This includes, but is not limited to: testing, lubricating, cleaning, diagnosing, troubleshooting and making repairs.
6. Performs switching and blocking required by permits on site equipment under the guidance of Peaking Power ECP.
7. Takes periodic readings reflecting performance of site equipment, records data, runs required tests, interprets results and makes necessary corrections.
8. Monitors and maintains cycle water chemistry.
9. Performs or assists in replacing, dismantling, repair and reassembly of site equipment.
10. For the LMBE energy project requisitions, receives and unloads material, tools, equipment and supplies utilizing appropriate systems.
11. Performs work on energized conductors (up to 230 KV) and equipment up to the unit interconnection point to the power grid in accordance with applicable safety rules and approved work procedures. The interconnecting point is defined as the high sides disconnect of the GSUs and the high side of the alternate off site power feed.
12. Operates equipment and vehicles such as fixed cranes and lifts, fork lifts, aerial devices/man lifts up to 75 feet, and portable cranes up to 60 ton.
13. Performs such other related duties as assigned or as necessary.

MININUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

1. One of the following:
A. A graduate of a 2-year school/program which has been accredited by a nationally recognized accreditation agency with an Associate Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Power Plant Technology or equivalent degree.
B. A minimum of 40 credits related to the degree programs in A. above.
C. Equivalent experience in combined cycle/gas turbine technology and the successful completion of the Combined POSS/MASS test or it's replacement. Equivalent experience will be determined by management.
2. Valid driver's license
3. Ability to obtain and maintain switching and permit authority using the Company's Peaking Power Energy Control Process within 6 months.
4. Ability to obtain and maintain respirator qualifications.
5. Knowledge of tools and materials used in the performance of the above duties.
6. Knowledge of technology-based systems pertaining to the job.
7. Ability to obtain and maintain all licenses and certifications as required.
8. Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
9. Ability to read and understand sketches, diagrams, specifications and equipment and operating instructions.
10. Successful completion of the Combined Cycle training within 6 months.
