Job Summary

Responsible for engineering technical support for the AEP generating fleet, engineering for new generation and Complex projects (Base/Intermediate projects upon request), Generation engineering and design standards for the fossil, hydro, and renewables fleet, and design basis for self-performed and managed work. Responsibilities include all aspects of mechanical, chemical, civil and electrical engineering, design, and development; all major equipment and structures (turbine, generator, boiler, heat exchangers, FGD, geotechnical, electrical, I&C, structural, etc.); circular letter (regulatory) development, maintenance, quality assurance, and validation; and maintaining equipment/systems technical subject matter experts (SMEs). Provide plant operational support as requested.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1) Provide cost effective and timely engineering support to generation fleet and projects for all engineering services in a proactive manner. Responsible for generation design basis for fleet.

2) Provide operations/maintenance/engineering project support.Develop, maintain, provide quality assurance, and validate circular letter compliance to ensure the generating fleet complies with regulatory and safe operating requirements.

3) Coordinate multi-discipline services to fleet generation to proactively identify and solve problems optimizing fleet reliability.

4) Provide clear policy guidance to the staff on systematic processes for managing and performing engineering activities.

5) Support employee development to assure suitable organization that includes core product specialists for operating AEP assets.

6) Serve on and represent AEP on select utility industry committees.

7) Provide guidance and support of AEP's Generation resource planning efforts with a focus on cost effective, clean, and reliable power for decades into the future.  Leverage R&D technology advancement for deployment of new technologies in Generation.

86) Develop and improve organization budgets consistent with corporate goals.

97) Manage engineering work activities focusing on safety, quality, cost, and schedule performance.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education requirements are listed below: BSME/BSEE/BSChemE/BSCE or other discipline.

Work Experience requirement listed below: 15 years experience in Utility Design/Engineering/Operations to include 8 years in a management capacity.

Required License(s)/Certification(s) are listed below: Registered PE.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Physical demand level is Sedentary

INITIAL BASE SALARY FUNDING: ($210, 822 - $274,066). In addition to base salary, AEP offers competitive Total Rewards including: discretionary annual incentives, 401(k), fully-funded pension, health insurance, vacation, etc.
