PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
Receives formal and on the job training to job specific skills and tasks as they relate to Overhead Electric Transmission Construction and Maintenance activities to include overhead transmission cellular and microwave work. Learns principles of basic electricity theory and utility infrastructure, rigging and hoisting, use and care of tools, safety equipment, safety rules and practices. Operates power tools and heavy equipment used in electric transmission line construction. Learns how to interpret construction drawings and standards. Works from towers, steel and wood poles, to include microwave towers over 200 feet in height. Works from man lifts, platforms and bucket trucks at varying heights (some over 200 feet) in proximity to energized electrical circuits. Performs other job duties as assigned. Note: Required to work during storm and emergency situations, including distribution restoration. Must be available for on-call coverage and overtime. Works in all weather conditions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience: Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent Training, education and/or experience in a technical or vocational field; or equivalent combination of formal education/training and experience.Knowledge: Knowledge of hand tools. Ability to read and comprehend construction drawings prints, etc. Skills/Abilities: Valid driver's license and the ability to meet Company driving standards. Ability to obtain appropriate Commercial Driver's License, Class A. Work outdoors in all weather conditions. Ability to safely operate large construction equipment (e.g., Cranes, Dozers, Backhoes, Skidsteers, Pole-Cats, Aerial Lifts, etc.) Satisfactory completion of the Construction and Skilled Trades Test Battery. Successful completion of Phase One training at Company training facility. Successfully pass all required customer and governmental background requirements as to be able to obtain access to company facilities (E.g., NSA, Fort Meade, CSX, etc.). Demonstrated ability to write, speak, read, comprehend and communicate clearly and accurately in the English language. Must be willing and able to work overtime on a regular basis and must be available for callout overtime, if and when required, consistent with the Labor Agreement. This position is considered a safety-sensitive function and may be subject to DOT drug and alcohol testing. Disclaimer: May perform other duties as assigned.
