Transmission Interconnect Advisor

As the Transmission Interconnect Advisor, you will interface with customers requesting interconnection to the APS grid and will lead efforts with internal stakeholders to complete interconnection studies and move interconnection requests through the process. Success in this role will require the proper execution of the following responsibilities:

  • Act in a lead capacity to draft, negotiate and provide ongoing management for contracts related to transmission and interconnection, facility-use lease/agreements and operating requirements for connected facilities.

  • Perform research and analysis to provide technical evaluation of rates, regulatory and industry issues and related policy recommendations.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business and Finance or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.

  • Expert knowledge of APS transmission and distribution system interconnections.

  • Knowledge of other utility's transmission systems, rates and tariff provisions.

  • Broad familiarity of FERC regulatory requirements and APS jurisdictional agreements.

  • In depth experience in negotiating and developing transmission, interconnection and operating facility contracts; organization, project management, communication and negotiation skills are essential.

  • Analytical abilities to perform rate studies, regulatory analysis and contract development.

Major Accountabilities

  • Initiate, plan, negotiate and ensure execution of studies and contracts to meet requirements of transmission service, facility use/lease and interconnections and APS OATT.

  • Initiate/direct studies/analysis to meet regulatory and company objectives and OATT requirements.

  • Interpret/develop policies, procedures, prepare analyses required to administer rates, contracts and tariffs.

  • Ensure that all FERC and NERC rules are kept current and employed correctly in contracts.

  • Effectively interface and resolve project issues within APS, executive management and customers to meet project requirements.

  • Represent company in industry working groups for rates, tariffs, pricing, contracts, regulatory and operating issues.

  • Establish and ensure completion of project schedules and goals for intra- and interdepartmental teams.

Salary and Level will be based upon experience. This position may require access to and/or use of information subject to control under the Department of Energy's Part 810 Regulations (10 CFR Part 810), the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) (15 CFR Parts 730 through 774), or the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) (22 CFR Chapter I, Subchapter M Part 120) (collectively, "U.S. Export Control Laws"). Therefore, some positions may require applicants to be a U.S. person, which is defined as a U.S. Citizen, a U.S. Lawful Permanent Resident (e.g. 'Green Card Holder'), a Political Asylee, or a Refugee under the U.S. Export Control Laws.
