Description

Product Specialist reports to the Product Manager, the Product Specialist is accountable for managing pricing sheets, pricing opportunities daily, assisting in adhoc production and supply chain requests, managing quality dispute and resolution, and maintaining the data integrity of the Industrial/Construction/Specialty products within HFA and EQuote. The Product Specialist has no direct reports but is required to collaboratively work with team members from Inside/Outside sales, other General Cable business team members, manufacturing, sales, IT and supply chain.

  • Champion for large dollar value and/or non-standard product quotations and RFQ requests via E-Quote.  Responsible for maintaining E-Quote process with internal and external customers, assisting in the development of product, price, and service strategy, and the continuing education and training of pricing tactics and strategies within Inside Sales.
  • Responsible for price sheet and HFA pricing maintenance.  Tasks include updates of HFA pricing records along with customer specific price sheets.  Updating of International pricing sheets and record retention of pricing agreements for Industrial/Construction/Specialty team and close collaboration & assistance with the Cord product team. 
  • Analyzes profitability data for product line, pricing, channel and recommends price and service strategy adjustments along with potential product rationalization ideas.
  • Drives smaller products/projects, which are closely aligned to engineering and/or manufacturing responsibilities.  Works with engineering and manufacturing as needed on projects.
  • Actively works the Diamond queue to determine CCP disposition and is responsible for recommending individual authority levels within the system. 
  • Maintains PM70 screen within HFA to ensure appropriate part number status with regards to price and supply chain requirements.
  • Provides daily aluminum guidelines and is responsible for facilitating metal hedge agreements
  • Acts as backup for product manager during absence.
  • Assists in proofing catalogs, product bulletins, application guides, cross-references.
  • Monitor (and publishes) daily service, bookings and billing trends. Identifies and addresses root causes for recurring issues identified within the business
  • Works with the sales team in the creation and implementation of sales promotions and is responsible for coordinating stock and inventory card updates
  • Work closely with supply chain in the maintenance of finished goods inventory levels and minimizing slow moving and obsolete (SMO) inventory via a variety of dispositions.
  • Daily monitoring of competitors and pricing environment for changes in market pricing
  • On-going responsibilities and data analysis as identified
Requirements
  • Degree in marketing, engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3 years experience in a similar position in the cable industry
  • Strong computer skills - able to perform analytical problem solving analysis work, strong command of desktop software (Excel and PowerPoint); experience with extracting data from an ERP system (i.e. SAP, HFA), analyzing and presenting for decisions/actions
