PSE's IT Infrastructure team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Adv IT Systems Engineer - Windows position!

Job Description

Manages servers, storage, operating systems and applications to ensure availability, recoverability, performance, integrity and supportability through production support and maintenance of existing systems and development and implementation of systems enhancements. Monitors, troubleshoots, configures, enhances and provides advanced customer support. Plans and executes the implementation of new applications or system integration and testing. Researches, recommends and designs new technologies, new configurations and enhancements to existing systems. Provides consulting advice to customers on the capabilities of the network environment.

Upholds the safety compliance standards inherent in PSE's operating and/or field procedures related to work responsibilities. Promotes and supports a culture of total safety.

Job Responsibilities

  • Supports the Windows family of operating systems to include: AD, DHCP, FTP, Powershell, email workflow, SCCM, SCOM, Win OS, DNS, and disaster recovery/business continuity.
  • Sets standards for technology domain.
  • Leads design and implementations of complex technology solutions, often spanning multiple teams.
  • Serves as highest-level technical resource for highly complex enterprise-wide technologies. Leads complex troubleshooting efforts and root cause analysis.
  • Works with various vendors to maintain equipment including firmware, service packs, security patches, etc. to ensure the maximum performance, security, and availability of the systems.
  • Demonstrates the application of technology to business needs and detailed understanding of multiple infrastructure architectures.
  • Evaluates, selects, integrates, and implements new system architectures, systems, tools, and techniques.
  • Evaluates and advises on selection of technology purchases related to large-scale processing, data storage, and application platforms.
  • Defines and promotes standards, guidelines, and policies for the use and integration of technology.
  • Reviews the environment and proactively implements changes to reduce problems and work stoppage.
  • Defines key performance indicators and thresholds for systems. Identifies strategic initiatives and plans to improve KPIs.
  • Oversees the updating/creation of system documentation which affects multiple teams.
  • Manages or consults on large projects to ensure proper allocation of resources, budgets, and high client satisfaction.
  • Estimates resource and costs for new systems or large projects.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Applies high skill with commands, utilities, and understands advanced aspects in the administration of systems.
  • Leads capacity planning, system installations, upgrades, and other maintenance activities for enterprise and departmental systems.
  • Reviews the environment and proactively implements changes to reduce problems and work stoppage.
  • Defines key performance indicators and thresholds for systems. Identifies strategic initiatives and plans to improve KPIs.  
  • Skilled in conflict management and effectively manages the most complex relationships with business partners, vendors, professional peers, and other team members.
  • Works with IT personnel across all segments.
  • Operates under minimal direction and sometimes leads others.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and eight (8) years of experience in a related field, or a combination of specialized training/education and five (5) years of directly relevant experience.
  • Experience working with IT LAN/WAN network applications/procedures and processes.
  • Knowledge of network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP), and GUI interfaces.
  • Knowledge of Windows OS commands, software upgrades, and with network routing and bridging protocols.
  • Proficient in understanding and troubleshooting the Windows family of operating systems, which includes possessing the following competencies related to the following technologies: AD, DHCP, FTP, Powershell, Email workflow, SCCM, SCOM, Win OS, DNS, and disaster recovery/business continuity.
  • Knowledge of performance monitors and debugger tools.
  • Experience with participating in projects in a cross-functional environment.
  • Experience supporting Windows operating systems and deploying enterprise-wide applications.
  • Possess excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Self-driven, the ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines, conceptualize and present ideas that promote operational efficiency. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to work effectively in a team environment. 

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, or Information Technology.
  • Experience in any of the following:
    • SAP
    • Cloud Computing
    • Clustering services
    • Visio
    • Exchange 2016/Exchange Online
    • Microsoft 365
    • Cisco UCS hardware
    • PowerBI
    • Splunk
    • Intake and management of small to medium projects and initiatives
