POSITION PURPOSE:
Responsible for performing analysis to support the identification and prioritization of Origination & Renewables (O&R) projects that support corporate business strategy.  Under the guidance of a Manager or Sr. Manager, analyzes the impact to existing portfolio when new projects surface and works with functional and program managers to identify alternative strategies (resources, project sequencing, etc.).  Analyzes and reports on trends that could have a potential positive or negative impact to projects functionally or financially.  Interacts and initiates contact with various TVA organizations for project and schedule analysis.  Performs project cost estimating, scheduling, milestone tracking and reporting on projects.Implements standard methods for project performance monitoring, reporting, analysis, trend assessment, scheduling and estimating. Provides support to Program management and/or Project Justification committees by identifying items and/or trends that could affect projects or in response to follow-up items from Joint Project Teams and committee meetings.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1.    Utilize best practices, techniques and tools for project planning, execution, project management, ongoing milestone/deliverable tracking, communication, and key performance metrics.
2.    Under the guidance of a Manager or Sr. Manager, work with the organization to quantify project benefits in a way that will enable objective evaluation of projects against company objectives and aid project decision-making.
3.    Works with functional managers and program managers ensuring all required data for making decisions is complete and available.
4.    Assists in the preparation of project plans, establishment milestones, and monitoring progress of specific projects to ensure goals and objectives are met.
5.    Participates in cross-organizational teams designed to implement and manage ongoing program issues.
6.    Provides support in the development and execution of the O&R commercial strategy through various programs and initiatives.
7.    Monitors and reports status on milestone schedule commitments, resource commitments and constraints.
8.    Responsible for developing project schedules and provides schedule variance reports and revises schedules as necessary to incorporate approved scope additions and logic changes.
9.    Prepares schedule scenarios and integrates other schedules as directed by the Program Manager.
10.    Maintains awareness of schedules at all times.  Assures critical path is defined, and project personnel are cognizant of any pending changes due to work activities.  Performs detailed logic planning to aid in schedule revisions.  Reviews the project schedule and system windows to determine the optimum timing of work execution to minimize schedule impact.
11.    Integrates emergent tasks into schedule and evaluates the impact to the schedules.
12.    May represent program managers on O&R projects (that are less complex than those handled by a senior analyst) and/or providing support to various committees (which often include several officers of the corporation) that have been established to resolve key business issues.
13.    Participates in self-assessments and assessments by other TVA organizations and OIG, including responses to audits.
14.    Performs other functions as necessary to ensure O&R strategy goals and objectives are met.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education - A B.S. Degree in a business related field; or equivalent education, training & experience.
  • Experience  - Six to ten years of project control, analysis and/or management experience.  Experience in project or program management, or business administration.  Demonstrated experience and knowledge of advanced concepts in project management, accounting, financial analysis, risk analysis and reporting tools.  Must have extensive experience in Premavera P6 scheduling software. 
  • Certification/License, etc Certification by Project Management Institute or AACE is desirable.
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities A comprehensive knowledge of industry best practices and procedures; a working knowledge of the principals of business administration, economics, mathematics, and the utility industry; and proficiency in project management techniques and tools.  Must possess the necessary interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills to be able to communicate effectively with all levels of TVA management, senior management of TVA's customers, vendors, and other senior level professionals.  A high degree of self-motivation required to independently perform assignments.   Candidate may be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance based on position / access requirements and essential job functions.
