Position Summary
The IT Solution Engineer job family provides technical leadership in design, development and implementation of IT solution deliverables. This could include the assessment and optimization of system design and review of user requirements. Provides technical direction to determine technical and operational feasibility of solutions that are integrated with the existing or defined IT network architecture and services standards, to meet clearly defined technical performance requirements. Develops prototypes of the system design and works with network, database, operations, technical support and other IT areas as appropriate throughout development and implementation processes in order to improve system resilience and reliability. Also provides IT Solution Engineering technical leadership to ensure that design, development, and testing activities conform to the strategic and tactical direction for individual initiatives. PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.
A reasonable salary range is:
California Minimum: $123,000
California Maximum: $197,000
Job Responsibilities
- Ensures design solutions delivered are aligned with the requirements in the technical/logic design
- Ensures the successful implementation of the most complex, larger scale, and cross-functional new/enhanced systems on time, in scope and within budget.
- Creates system design models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to system programmer and development teams.
- Identifies and implements process improvements at the department level.
- Presents findings and makes recommendations to management or others within organization.
- Oversees the creation, revision, and maintenance of all work procedures and standards.
- Mentors and provides guidance to less experienced colleagues.
- Develops and maintains all technical standards, design patterns, reference architectures and roadmaps for a logical collection of foundational services.
- Oversees a majority of the architecture and design of technology solutions supporting business requirements on projects.
- Provides consulting and guidance during the detailed design, build, test, and deploy phases of IT projects.
- Oversees the creation, revision, and maintenance of all work procedures and standards.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
- 8 years of experience in IT-Information Technology engineering design OR Master's degree and 6 years of experience in IT engineering design and/or technical project implementation
- Experience with multi-tier enterprise technology environments
- Experience in team-oriented, collaborative environment
- Experience in enterprise architecture environments, job-related
- Experience in systems implementation, job-related
Desired:
- Works in 24 hours per day-7 days per week environment
- Ability to travel using personal vehicle.
- Experience in project management, IT-Information Technology
- Project experience in one or more core business areas of a utility in the application of one or more of the following: Application Architecture, SOA, Information Architecture, Data Management, Security or Infrastructure technologies.
- PMP-Project Management Professional certification
- Familiar with CUCM, NICE NTR, SBC, E911, Unity
- In-depth knowledge of VoIP systems and IP Protocols
