Become a Senior Advisor of Grid Technology Projects at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. The Operations Strategy, Reliability, and Performance Management (OSRPM) team integrates operational improvements, operations coordination, business services, outage validations, and the integration and business process ownership of new technologies into Grid Operations, allowing Grid Operations to provide safe and reliable power to our customers. In this job you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of new technologies affecting Grid Operations, and large numbers of stakeholders throughout SCE. Your work will include influencing many technically diverse end users and advising senior leadership on important business decisions.

A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!

  • Coordinates cross-functional teams representing end users spanning SCE to develop, test, and deploy new technologies, (ie, Advanced Distribution Management System, Distributed Energy Resource Management System) and enhancements to existing systems.
  • Engages team members, evaluates change impacts, and recommends or implements process or procedural changes to meet needs.
  • Influences key partners and leaders throughout SCE to build consensus and support for deployment strategies.
  • Develops and presents materials to senior and executive leadership on behalf of OSRPM, Grid Operations, and various supported projects.
  • Coordinates and directs the support of subject matter experts and project members with diverse experience and technical backgrounds to meet project and initiative achievements.
  • Supports General Rate Case testimony as well as prepares and responds to data requests.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Provides direction and mentoring to specialists, advisors, and other Senior Advisors.

The essentials

  • Ten years of experience with electric utility operations, (e.g. real time control room operator, dispatcher, work management etc), and/or development and implementation of SCADA, outage management, and work management systems.

The preferred

  • Bachelor's Degree in an applicable field.
  • Demonstrated experience deploying new applications and/or processes across organizations.
  • Detailed technical understanding of electrical utility SCADA, work management, and outage management systems.
  • Demonstrated experience developing communication materials (e.g. power point) and facilitating decision making conversations with senior leadership.
  • Experience leading project teams through all stages of the project lifecycle.
  • Experience developing and executing testing plans for applications.
  • Experience working in or collaborating with different operational units (e.g. T&D, CS, IT, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience identifying customer and business problems and supporting the creation of product requirements and plans to pursue opportunities to address identified problems.
  • Strong logical thinking and quick learning abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

You should know

  • This position's work mode is Hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
