Summary
Responsible for providing engineering and technical support to Transmission Grid Operations, including support for real-time grid operations and outage planning.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
Other duties may be assigned. Directly or through others, the incumbent:
- Responsible for providing technical support to real-time grid operations during system emergencies and forced outage conditions
- Responsible for performing transmission reliability studies (e.g., power flow and contingency analysis) in the operating horizon to support real-time grid operations and outage planning
- Responsible for analyzing proposed transmission outages to identify alternative methods to obtain otherwise infeasible outages (e.g., determining the maximum allowable load, avoiding specific outage conflicts, reconfiguring the transmission system, etc.)
- Responsible for developing and maintaining operating procedures and plans to ensure the reliable operation of the grid
- Responsible for additional tasks that are essential to reliable grid operations, as assigned
- Effectively communicate and resolve issues relevant to Transmission Grid Operations by working with other departments at Oncor, and external entities such as ERCOT and adjacent Transmission Operators
- Other duties as assigned
Education, Experience, & Skills
- Education - Bachelor of Science or higher in Electrical Engineering or related field, Power Systems focus preferred

The minimum experience requirements are:
- Familiarity with transmission modeling and power flow assessment.
- Position will be dependent upon the applicant's experience, skills and knowledge base with minimum requirements as follows:
- Engineer - Generally requires at least two years of experience.
- Staff Engineer - Generally requires at least four years of experience.
- Senior Engineer - Generally requires at least six years of experience.
